23 stitches in width and 32 rows in height with stockinette stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
19 stitches in width and 32 rows in height with waffle knit = 10 x 10 cm.

Sticks:
Knitting needles 3.00 mm
The needle sizes are for guidance only. If you end up with too many stitches per 10 cm, switch to thicker needles.
If you have too few stitches per 10 cm, switch to thinner needles.
