Drops Melody

There will always be some loose fibres (from production) that turn into fluff. The yarn will shed more or less depending on how it is spun. Brushed yarns (“long-haired” yarns), like DROPS Melody, have more of these loose fibres than other yarns and therefore shed more. Of course, this also depends on what you wear under and over the garment, whether it's a material that pulls on the yarn fibres. It is therefore not possible to completely prevent the yarn from shedding.

Here are some tips on how to care for clothes in brushed yarns like DROPS Melody:

• When the garment is finished - before you wash it (consider airing it) - shake it vigorously so that loose fibres fall off.
• Do not use a clothes roller, brush or other methods that pull the fibres out of the garment.
• Place the garment in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer - the temperature will prevent the fibres from sticking together. Leave the garment in the freezer for a few hours before shaking it again.
• Hand wash 30ºC - separately - with a detergent without enzymes or optical brighteners.
• Don't soak the garment, move it gently back and forth without lifting, scrubbing or twisting.
• Rinse the clothes until the rinse water is completely clear, making sure to keep the water at the same temperature.
• Spin the garment lightly (approx. 800 revolutions), choose a programme that does NOT take in water when you start the spin cycle. Or gently squeeze the water out of the clothes with a dry towel. Do not wring or roll the clothes.
• Dry clothes flat in the correct shape and size - do not hang - preferably on a warm bathroom floor or on a drying rack in a room with good circulation, never in direct sunlight.
• When the garment is dry, shake it once more so that all loose fibres fall off.

Please note: If you want to wash a project that is a combination of this and another yarn, follow the washing instructions for the yarn with the finest/most delicate fibres.
