About the recipe

Famses children's sweater in wool

Really beautiful and stylish jumper for children in size approx. 3 years.
Vary the colours in the pattern as you like.
The jumper was designed by our Grandma about 50 years ago.

3 mm and 3.5 mm circular and double pointed needles

Drops Karisma 100% wool

The following colours are used here:

100 grams Drops Karisma Charcoal grey 53

50 grams Drops Karisma White 01

200 grams Drops Karisma Olives 45

Famses children's sweater in wool Size 3 years.

Chest width approx. 64 - 68 cm - Neck width approx. 18 cm - Sleeve length approx. 25 cm + ribbed hem approx. 4 cm

Neck collar 4.5 cm

10 x 10 cm = 21 stitches 28 rows.

Bulls

Cast on 134 stitches on needle 3 and knit 1 round. Then work 4 cm in rib k1 k1 v

Change to needle size 3.5 mm and switch to stockinette stitch. On the first row, evenly divide 10 stitches = 144 stitches.

Then start on pattern by diagram.

Decide whether you want to knit all the way up and then cut to the armhole or knit back and forth at the sleeves.

If you choose the cut technique, continue working in pattern until the work measures 36 cm. Preferably end with a finished pattern row. Then purl one round and then knit 4 rounds in stockinette.

If you choose split, work back and forth after 18 - 19 CM. I have knitted and cut. It reflects the pattern hereafter.

After 32 - 33 CM (end of a pattern row) change to the base colour.

On the front, bind off for the neck, knit 24 stitches, bind off 24 stitches, knit 24. Then knit the back and front for the neck. Then work back and forth. Bind off for the neck once for 2 stitches and once for 1 stitch. Then knit the next knit row as a purl row.

The back piece here is closed for the middle 30 stitches for the neck.

I then place the shoulders right sides together and knit the shoulder seam. You can also choose to bind off and sew together.

Neck: Pick up min. 68 stitches in the neck edge. Purl the first row, knit the second row. Then knit 4 cm of rib, knit 1, purl 1. Close with a knit row.

The bull is now finished.

Sleeves

Cast on 36 stitches on needle 3 and knit one round. Then work 4 cm in rib k1, p1

Change to needle 3.5 mm and switch to stockinette stitch. On the first row, cast on 9 stitches evenly spaced.

Then start with pattern. Centre the pattern in the middle of the sleeve.

Then increase 2 stitches in the centre of the underarm on every 3 or 4 rows until you reach a minimum of 71 stitches.

After knitting the pattern twice, the sleeve should measure 27 cm. Then finish with 1 purl row.

Since I stitch the sleeves in the shutter, I choose not to bind off the stitches. This gives an easier seam in the armhole after cutting.

If you choose to sew in the sleeve, finish with knit 1 row and then bind off.

Mounting

Staple all ends.

When cutting the shirt open, sew a zigzag seam at the armhole before cutting.

Use the sleeve to measure and it will fit. My armhole is 18 - 19 cm. As I mentioned earlier, I knitted the sleeves in. But you can choose to sew.

Happy knitting.
