1. Round: Cast on 6 ch in orange cotton yarn and weave it into a ring
2. Round: Crochet 2 sc in each sc i.e. 12 sc.
3. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 2nd sc, so there are now 18 sc.
4. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 3rd sc, so there are now 24 sc.
5. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc, so there are now 30 sc.
Continue with 1 extra sc between the increases until there are 60 sc in total
6. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc, so there are now 36 stitches.
7. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc, so there are now 42 stitches.
8. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc, so there are now 48 stitches.
9. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc, so there are now 54 stitches.
10. Round: Crochet 2 sc in every 4th sc, so there are now 60 stitches.
11. - 15. Round: Crochet sc all the way around (you may want to make several rounds if you want the pumpkin a little thicker/taller).
Then it's time to take it in:
1. Round: Crochet every 9 & 10 sc together so there are now 54 sc (total of 5 decreases).
2. Round: Continue with 5 decreases with the same distance (between decreases) until there are 6 sc left
3. Leave the thread long enough to be pulled through the pumpkin about 8 times
4. Stuff the pumpkin with fibre wadding, but not too much.
5. Sew the hole together with the thread and shape the pumpkin by sewing down the centre.
6. Pull the thread through and up along the pumpkin and down again in the same place.
Tighten and move the thread. Shape the sides of the pumpkin. Staple to the underside of the pumpkin.
Stem:
1. Crochet 8 chain stitches in the colour you want the stem to be (in this case green)
2. Turn and start in 2 stitches from the hook. Crochet 1 sc in each chain stitch
3. Turn and finish with a chain stitch at the end.
4. Sew the stem to the pumpkin by inserting the end through the pumpkin. Staple the end to the underside of the pumpkin.
