Blended yarns combine the best of several fibres to create yarns with unique properties. This could be extra softness, increased durability or a special lustre - depending on which materials are blended.

What can you use blended yarn for?

Blended yarns combine different fibres to achieve specific properties such as softness, warmth, durability and lightness. For example, many yarns blend wool, alpaca or cotton to create a yarn with a good balance between comfort and durability.

Blended yarn is suitable for sweaters, accessories and everyday knitting. Especially for knitting and crocheting socks, a yarn like Drops Fabel or Drops Fiesta popular because they combine wool with polyamide to give durability to the socks you make. Both Drops Fabel and Drops Fiesta are yarn types that come in a variety of colour blends, both solid colours (Uni Colour) and what we call print colours where several colours are mixed in the same yarn. This gives a beautiful mottled look.

You can also mix several solid colours to create beautiful patterns in your knitted or crocheted items.
Drops Air is a good choice for sweaters and hats because it's a good blend of pure wool and a little polyamide. Where a blended yarn like Drops Kid Silk is a fine yarn that is a blend of both mohair wool and mulberry silk. It is a very popular choice as a companion yarn or as a stand-alone yarn choice for light cardigans or smaller delicate items.
